๐ŸŒ European Solidarity Corps Volunteering Opportunity

This ESC volunteering project takes place at an agroecological cooperative farm in Catalunya, Spain, offering volunteers a hands-on learning experience in sustainable agriculture, biodiversity protection and traditional seed conservation.

The farm manages more than 20 hectares of land near Igualada (Barcelona) and combines agroecological farming with forest management and environmental education.

Volunteers will work alongside the cooperative team supporting sustainable farming practices, seed preservation and community learning activities while gaining practical knowledge of agroecology and land management.

๐ŸŒฑ Farm Environment

The cooperative operates a diverse agricultural ecosystem including:

๐Ÿฅ• A large vegetable garden
๐ŸŽ Fruit trees and perennial fields
๐ŸŒฒ A large pine forest area
๐Ÿ„ A small herd of Jersey cows grazing on pasture
๐Ÿ” Around 100 free-range chickens living in mobile coops
๐ŸŒพ Several composting systems and seed conservation initiatives

The farm also maintains a seed bank for traditional local varieties, helping preserve biodiversity and agricultural heritage.

๐Ÿ  Accommodation, Food & Living Conditions

Volunteers will live directly on the farm.

๐Ÿก Private sleeping space on the ground floor
๐Ÿณ Access to a shared kitchen and bathroom
๐Ÿš Basic food supplies provided (rice, pasta, vegetables and similar essentials)

๐Ÿ’ฐ Volunteers also receive monthly pocket money for personal expenses.

๐Ÿšฒ Transport

The farm is located about 4 km from Igualada.

๐Ÿšถ Approximately 1 hour walking distance
๐Ÿšฒ Around 20 minutes by bicycle (bikes are available for volunteers)

Volunteers may also bring their own vehicle if they wish.

๐ŸŒฑ All agricultural and forest activities include in-house practical training.

๐Ÿ—ฃ From September, volunteers may also join language classes in Igualada Civic Centres, with the possibility to learn:
