๐ŸŒ About the Scholarship

The Romania Government Scholarship 2026 is a fully funded study opportunity offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania for international students from non-EU countries who wish to pursue higher education in Romania.

Each year, the Romanian government selects international students with strong academic records and provides financial support to study at accredited universities across Romania. The scholarship allows selected candidates to enroll in Bachelorโ€™s, Masterโ€™s, or PhD degree programs.

Applications will open on 16 February 2026 and close on 31 March 2026, and submissions must be completed through the official Study in Romania scholarship platform.

After selection, candidates must apply for a long-stay study visa in order to begin their studies in Romania.

๐ŸŒ Eligibility Criteria

๐ŸŒ Open to international students from non-EU countries
๐Ÿ“Š Applicants must have strong academic results (minimum average grade of 7 or โ€œGoodโ€)
๐ŸŽ“ Applicants who already benefit from another Romanian state scholarship for the same study cycle cannot apply
๐Ÿ“– Bachelorโ€™s and Masterโ€™s students must study in Romanian (preparatory language year provided if needed)
๐Ÿ”ฌ PhD applicants must obtain written agreement from a doctoral supervisor and pass the admission interview

The following applicants are not eligible:
โš ๏ธ Individuals who requested or obtained protection in Romania
โš ๏ธ Diplomatic staff or technical staff of diplomatic missions accredited in Romania
โš ๏ธ Staff of international organizations based in Romania and their family members
โš ๏ธ Stateless persons whose stay in Romania is officially recognized by law

๐Ÿ“„ Copy of the first three pages of a valid passport
๐Ÿ“„ Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English, French or Romanian

For PhD applicants, additional documents are required:

Additional documents may include:
