Description
We're VALS, an independent non-profit organization based in Zaragoza, Spain. Our activities combine local and international actions to promote a sustainable lifestyle, circular economy, green mobility, active participation, and social inclusion through non-formal education and art.
We're now looking for a volunteer with a creative, open-minded, and flexible mindset who wants to learn and contribute to a dynamic team, joining us for an 8-month European Solidarity Corps project, from November 2026 until June 2027 (dates are flexible).
As a volunteer, you will engage in diverse projects:
- Jugueteka & El Gancho sobre Ruedas: Toy library and bike-repair workshops for children and families.
- Armario Abierto & Cosiendo Redes: Clothes-sharing and sewing initiatives promoting circular economy and community for local/migrant women.
- Art & Nature: Cultural excursions, outdoor events, and creative workshops.
- International mobilities: Youth Exchanges and Training Courses
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
- Accommodation: You will have your own private bedroom in a shared apartment with access to all necessary facilities (fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, internet, etc.).
- Food & Pocket Money: You will receive a monthly allowance to cover food expenses and personal pocket money, transferred directly to your bank account.
- Local & International Transport: Travel costs from your home country to Zaragoza and back will be reimbursed according to the ESC distance calculator limits. Local transportation for project-related activities will be provided or covered.
Training during the activity
During your volunteering project, you'll join two training sessions (on-arrival & mid-term evaluation) organized by the Spanish National Agency, where you'll meet other European volunteers, share experiences, and reflect on your learning process.
You'll have access to the EU Online Language Support platform (OLS) to learn and practice Spanish (and another language too, if you wish).
Your learning process will be supported by the members of our team, who will guide you all along the volunteering project. We strongly believe in learning by doing.
Participant profile
We are looking for 1 motivated volunteer (18–30 years old) with strong social skills, empathy, and an active attitude who enjoys working with people of all ages and background contexts.
Specific Profile Requirements:
- Social & Facilitation Skills: Interest or experience in non-formal education, dynamic group management, workshop facilitation, and youth work.
- Active Participation: Eager to get hands-on in our local initiatives, such as the toy library (Jugueteka), sewing group (Cosiendo Redes), bike workshops (El Gancho sobre Ruedas), and outdoor cultural activities.
- Inclusion & Community Mindset: Passionate about fostering social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, circular economy, and community empowerment.
General Criteria:
- Basic Spanish is an asset, but high motivation to learn and communicate in Spanish is key!
- Flexibility, initiative, and readiness to join an intercultural environment.
- Full commitment for the 8-month project duration (Nov 2026 – Jun 2027).
