🇫🇷 ESC Volunteering in France 📚 Early Childhood, Games & Community Education in Clichy-sous-Bois 🎲

A toy library, a mobile game bus, a children’s comic library, and a community in one of France’s most underserved districts — this ESC placement is for someone who genuinely cares about early childhood, education, and the power of play. And it is open to Spanish residents only.

L’Orange Bleue is a community social centre based in the Bas-Clichy district — a truly underprivileged area where questions around parenthood and childhood carry real weight. The organisation runs a range of activities centred on early childhood support, and they are looking for one motivated volunteer from Spain to join their team through their long-standing partnership with Don Bosco España.

What Is This Role About?

The placement sits at the heart of L’Orange Bleue’s mission for early childhood. You will be supporting school entry for young children, running workshops with parents and toddlers, managing the game library, and helping organise community events — including involvement with the Orange Bus, a mobile game bus that brings play directly to the neighbourhood. You will also have the freedom to create your own event in line with the overall project.

🏫 Helping children entering school for the first year — supporting their transition into education

👨‍👩‍👧 Leading small workshops for parents and their young children

🎲 Ensuring all children can play together at the game library — managing daily library life

🚌 Participating in the Orange Bus — a mobile game bus serving the local community

📚 Supporting the little kids’ library and the associative comic library

🎉 Helping organise fun community events — and potentially creating your own

Who Should Apply?

This placement is specifically reserved for one volunteer of Spanish origin, placed through the established partnership with Don Bosco España.

🔹 Motivated with a genuine attraction to education, youth comics, children’s books, and games — especially board games

🔹 Interested in early childhood and community-based work

🔹 French is not required at the start — the team can work with someone who speaks mainly Spanish. Weekly French workshops are available

🔹 Spanish origin required — this placement operates through the Don Bosco España sending structure

Training & Support

🎓 Two-day integration training at the start of the placement — covering local life and the host structure

🇫🇷 Weekly French language workshops available throughout — for those who want and need them

👶 BAFA short training course for children’s animators — offered as part of the placement

📋 Two seminars organised by the French Erasmus+ National Agency

🎲 Internal training in the game library and the associative comic library

Accommodation & Practical Details

🏠 Volunteer lives in a shared house with 4 or 5 other volunteers — large house with a garden in Pavillons-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis

🛏️ Private room for each volunteer — 3 shared bathrooms, kitchen, living room, terrace, and garden

📶 House equipped with WiFi and TV

🚇 30 minutes by public transport to reach L’Orange Bleue — Paris accessible by train in approximately 45 minutes

🎟️ Monthly regional transport subscription fully covered

💶 Monthly allowance of approximately €400 for food and pocket money
