A youth office at the heart of a city’s support network for children and young people, a team that genuinely values volunteer input, and a role that takes you through every phase of community activity — from planning to delivery to direct interaction with participants. This ESC placement in Germany is for someone who is active, organised, and ready to contribute in a meaningful way.

Stadtjugendring Esslingen e.V. is a contact point for children and young people in Esslingen — improving their living conditions, representing their interests, supporting their development, and advising associations, groups, and volunteers across the city. Their ESC volunteer becomes part of that mission directly, supporting local projects while also bringing their own intercultural perspective into the work.

⚠️ Due to the imminent start date, only volunteers based in the EU will be considered for this placement.

What Is This Role About?

The volunteer supports the youth office’s local projects across multiple dimensions — promotion within the community, materials management, organisation, and activity planning. Importantly, this is not a purely administrative role. You will interact directly with children and young people, participate in all phases of activities, and have the opportunity to propose your own ideas to enrich the project with intercultural exchange.

Activities

📢 Promoting local projects within the community — reaching children, young people, and community stakeholders

📦 Taking care of materials for activities — including physical work such as carrying boxes

🗂️ Supporting the organisation and planning of activities within the youth office

🤝 Direct interaction with participants — children and young people in Esslingen

💡 Proposing personal ideas to bring intercultural exchange into the project

💻 Office-based work using computer skills for coordination and communication tasks

Who Should Apply?

🔹 Motivated to work in an office environment and with children and young people

🔹 Good knowledge of computer work

🔹 Driver’s licence preferred

🔹 Motivated for some physical work — carrying materials for activities

🔹 Good knowledge of English — basics of German preferred

🔹 Active, sporty, friendly with children, and comfortable with media and digital tools

🔹 Based in an EU country — due to the imminent start date, only EU-based volunteers will be considered

Training & Support

🎓 Welcome training at the beginning of the placement covering rights and responsibilities

🗣️ Regular reflection talks led by a neutral external person — ongoing professional support throughout the placement

🇩🇪 German language training to help the volunteer learn the language of the host country

📋 Participation in two trainings in Germany plus the On-Arrival Seminar and Mid-Term Training

Accommodation & Practical Details

🏠 Volunteer is accommodated in a house with other volunteers — located in the same building as the association, on the top floor
