Everyone has a story to tell. The people we work with โ young people at risk, those rarely heard in mainstream media, those who believe their story is not interesting enough โ they have stories too. This training course is about learning how to help them tell those stories, using nothing more than a microphone and a method built on respect.
Fundacja Autokreacja is organising Hear Me Out โ How to Use Participatory Audio for Supporting Young Peopleโ a 7-day Erasmus+ training course taking place in the Baltic Sea area of Poland from 1 to 9 June 2026. The course brings together 25 youth workers from across Europe and beyond to explore participatory audio as a practical, accessible, and deeply human tool for youth work.
What Is This Training About?
Participatory Audio is a method of empowering people by supporting them to share their personal life stories through digital means of expression โ audio recordings, soundscapes, and personal narratives. The philosophy is simple: everyone has a story worth telling. And many of the young people we work with have never been given the space or tools to tell theirs.
This training uses a learning by doing approach. Every participant will create their own podcast episode or short audio narrative during the course โ experiencing the method from the inside before learning how to facilitate it with others. No prior experience in voice recording or audio editing is required.
What Will Participants Learn?
๐๏ธ How to use participatory audio and voice recording as a youth work tool
๐ง How to facilitate storytelling processes with groups of young people with fewer opportunities
๐ ๏ธ How to use simple and free digital tools โ keeping the method accessible regardless of economic or cultural resources
๐ How to become a facilitator of participatory podcasting with youth at risk
๐ป How to create a complete podcast episode or short audio narrative from scratch
๐ค How to build a group process where participants feel heard, respected, and empowered to listen
Programme Structure
The training unfolds in two connected parts:
๐ต Part 1 โ Learning by Doing: Each participant creates their own podcast episode or audio narrative. This hands-on process builds a genuine understanding of what the method feels like from the participant’s perspective.
๐ต Part 2 โ Becoming a Facilitator: The group analyses participatory podcasting as a method and develops the skills needed to use it in their own work with young people with fewer opportunities.
