The internship provides hands-on experience in gender-responsive governance, policy research, programme coordination, and stakeholder engagement, directly contributing to national and UN-wide efforts on gender equality and womenโs empowerment.
Interns will support two major research assignments aligned with UN Womenโs normative and programmatic work in Indonesia, gaining deep exposure to national gender machinery, male engagement initiatives, and gender-responsive governance systems.
๐๏ธ Main Responsibilities
๐ Research on National Gender Machinery (Indonesia)
๐ Desk review of CEDAW Concluding Observations, BPfA+30 National Review, and national policy frameworks
๐๏ธ Mapping ministries, institutions, and internal gender mechanisms (focal points, task forces, working groups)
๐ Compilation of key policies, strategies, programmes, and budget allocations
๐ค Mapping partners across government, civil society, academia, private sector, and subnational levels

Verification of legal and policy references (Presidential & Ministerial regulations)
๐ฅ Research on Male Engagement & Positive Masculinities
๐ง Analysis of national models engaging men and boys in gender equality
๐ Review of training modules, curricula, and intervention strategies
๐ Identification of promising practices, gaps, and opportunities
๐ Support exploration of collaboration pathways with law enforcement institutions

๐ Administrative and logistical support

๐ Education (required)
Applicants must meet one of the following:
โ๏ธ Enrolled in a graduate programme (Masterโs or PhD)
โ๏ธ Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelorโs degree
โ๏ธ Graduated (must start internship within 2 years of graduation)
โ๏ธ Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship linked to a degree programme
Relevant fields include:
Gender Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Law, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related disciplines.
