🧩 Project Overview
This European Solidarity Corps individual volunteering project is implemented by Stichting Ecosystem Restoration Foundation, in cooperation with AJEVES, and takes place in Danyi Apéyémé, Commune de Danyi 1, Togo 🇹🇬.
The project focuses on women’s empowerment, community engagement, and sustainable rural livelihoods, offering volunteers a deeply immersive experience in local development, gender equality, and cultural exchange.

Volunteers actively support women’s groups and local communities by contributing to practical initiatives that strengthen economic resilience, environmental sustainability, and public health awareness, while fully integrating into everyday village life.

🌱 Main Activities & Daily Engagement
Volunteers will be involved in a wide range of meaningful, hands-on activities, including:

  • 👩🏾‍🌾 Supporting women’s empowerment initiatives and local women’s groups
  • 🌿 Participating in regenerative agriculture & basic permaculture practices
  • 🐝 Assisting with beekeeping activities and sustainable food production
  • 💰 Supporting small-scale financial literacy and livelihood skills
  • 🚰 Contributing to WASH activities (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), including hygiene awareness, safe water practices, and waste management
  • 🏫 Visiting schools, health centres, and community hubs
  • 🎭 Taking part in community events, traditional ceremonies, and cultural activities
  • 🤝 Engaging with local stakeholders and community leaders

⏰ Working hours are generally 08:00–12:00 and 14:30–17:30, with flexibility required to adapt to community needs and events.

🏠 Accommodation, Food & Local Transport

  • 🏡 Accommodation in safe shared flats (single rooms may be available but are not guaranteed)
  • 🚿 Basic amenities provided, including electricity, running water, and internet via SIM card
  • 🍽️ Meals fully provided, based on healthy and balanced local cuisine (dietary needs can be communicated in advance)
  • 🚶 Most activities are within walking distance
  • 🛵 Local transport (taxis and moto-taxis) arranged when needed, with helmets provided
  • 🛍️ Cultural visits, traditional events, and local market trips included as part of the experience

🎓 Training & Support During the Activity
Volunteers receive structured and continuous support throughout their stay:

  • 📘 Initial orientation covering local culture, safety, and community expectations
  • 🌱 Introductory training on health & sanitation, regenerative agriculture, and beekeeping
  • 🛠️ Strong emphasis on practical, hands-on learning
  • ⏳ Training period typically lasts 1–2 weeks
  • 🤍 Ongoing mentoring by AJEVES staff
  • 🏥 Free psychosocial support available at the local hospital
  • 🤝 Stakeholder visits organized to ensure sustainability and long-term impact

👤 Participant Profile
This opportunity is ideal for volunteers who:

  • ❤️ Are highly motivated to contribute to community service and local initiatives
  • 🌍 Have a strong interest in:
    • Women’s empowerment
    • Sustainability & environmental conservation
    • WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)
    • Beekeeping & regenerative agriculture
  • 🌾 Have prior experience in regenerative farming or permaculture (an advantage but not required)
  • 🤝 Are open-minded, culturally respectful, and eager to learn
  • 🔄 Are flexible and adaptable in new and sometimes challenging environments
  • 🗣️ Have French language skills at minimum B1 level, required for effective communication and integration
