🇮🇹 VOLUNTEERING IN SICILY IN A HOUSING COMMUNITY FOR AT-RISK BOYS
📋 DESCRIPTION
Istituto Walden is a social cooperative in Sicily looking for volunteers to support educators in a shelter for boys aged 13-18. The boys are on a path towards rehabilitation and social inclusion. Volunteers will help with daily activities, offering support and engagement.
✨ Tasks include:
- 📚 Supporting youngsters’ education with afterschool activities, foreign language lessons, and workshops.
- 🎨 Organizing creative workshops like cooking, theatre, and music.
- 🎉 Planning celebrations for special occasions.
- 🍽️ Managing daily life in the community: preparing meals, keeping spaces clean, and helping residents.
- 🌍 Accompanying the youngsters on trips to discover the local area.
🏠 ACCOMMODATION, FOOD, AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Volunteers will work 5 days per week, for a maximum of 35 hours. They will have 2 consecutive days off and 2 additional free days per month. Volunteers will live in a shared flat in Menfi with double bedrooms, a kitchen, and bathrooms.
💶 Pocket money: 6 euros/day + 100 euros/month for food expenses.
🚍 Transport: Travel expenses covered by the European Solidarity Corps Programme.
🎓 TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Volunteers will participate in:
- 🆕 On-Arrival training with Associazione Joint and the Italian National Agency.
- 🗣️ Online Italian course.
- 🎓 Specific training for project activities, mid-term, and final evaluation.
👤 PARTICIPANT PROFILE
We are looking for:
- 🎯 Volunteers available for the full project duration (October 2024 – February 2025).
- 👦 Volunteers ready to work with young boys (13-18 years old) from various social backgrounds.
- 🎓 Volunteers with studies or experience in social work or psychology.
- 💪 Creative, proactive, adaptable volunteers who are ready to take responsibility.
- 🇮🇹 Volunteers willing to learn or already knowing Italian.
Note: CV and Motivation Letter in English! (Age: 23-30 years old, 2 male volunteers required).
