🌍 Project Overview
Join the inspiring “Building Resilient Communities through Sustainable Action” ESC project at Serra Guarneri Environmental Education Center, nestled in the beautiful Madonie Mountains near Cefalù, Sicily.
Organised by Palma Nana Social Cooperative, this experience invites volunteers to live and learn within a small ecological village focused on environmental education, permaculture, circular economy, community living, and sustainable tourism.
At Serra Guarneri, you’ll become part of a vibrant community that truly embodies sustainable living — working with children, youth, and adults to promote environmental awareness and simple, mindful lifestyles.
🌱 What You’ll Do
✨ Support environmental education workshops and eco-friendly activities
🏡 Help maintain rural structures and community spaces
🧑🌾 Participate in organic gardening and permaculture projects
🌻 Assist with hosting school groups, summer camps, and yoga retreats
🍋 Learn Sicilian recipes and low-waste cooking
♻️ Contribute to local sustainability and circular-economy initiatives
🏠 Accommodation, Food & Living
You’ll live in a cozy three-bedroom house shared with other volunteers (maximum two per room), in a rural setting surrounded by nature.
- Shared kitchen and bathroom
- Heating by wood stove (no AC)
- Mainly vegetarian, organic, and seasonal meals
- Community cooking and shared meals with staff and guests
- Encouragement for green travel to the site (nearest bus stop ~45 minutes by foot)
