Step into the world of strategy, creativity, and cultural exchange with Cedid Derneği’s “Discover Chess with ESC”project in Siirt, Türkiye!
This European Solidarity Corps (ESC) opportunity is designed for young people who want to explore how chess can bring communities together — enhancing focus, patience, and intercultural understanding.

Through chess workshops, community events, and teamwork activities, volunteers will connect with local youth, share European values, and contribute to Siirt’s vibrant cultural life.

♟️ Main Activities

During this project, volunteers will:

  • Teach and promote chess as a tool for inclusion and personal growth ♞
  • Support chess workshops for children and young people
  • Collaborate with local schools and youth centres
  • Help organise intercultural activities and public events
  • Promote teamwork, creative learning, and European values
  • Contribute to a final showcase event celebrating learning through play

🧳 What’s Included

All costs are fully covered by the European Solidarity Corps programme. This includes:

  • ✈️ Travel reimbursement according to ESC distance rules
  • 🏠 Accommodation in shared housing provided by Cedid Derneği
  • 🍽️ Meals or food allowance for the entire activity period
  • 💶 Pocket money for personal expenses
  • 💬 Local transport and project materials

🎓 Training & Learning Support

Volunteers will take part in:

  • Pre-departure and on-arrival training sessions
  • Workshops on non-formal education, teamwork, and community engagement
  • Intercultural learning sessions and local cultural visits
  • Personal development activities
  • A Youthpass certificate at the end of the project recognising learning outcomes

We are looking for motivated young volunteers aged 18–30 from eligible ESC countries who are:

  • Enthusiastic about chess, games, and creative learning
  • Ready to participate in teamwork and intercultural exchange
  • Eager to explore Türkiye and share their own culture
  • Positive, adaptable, and committed to community engagement
