🌍 About the Project
Take part in a transformative volunteering experience in rural Ghana by helping young students discover the beauty of language and cultural exchange!
The Kongo Community Development Association (KoCDA) is a grassroots organisation in Ghana’s Upper East Region, near the borders of Burkina Faso and Togo. Its mission is to promote French language learning as a tool for communication, regional cooperation, and development.
As a volunteer, you will:
📘 Teach basic and intermediate French in local schools
🎓 Organise workshops and competitions to promote French learning
💬 Assist teachers and children in everyday conversation practice
🌍 Encourage intercultural exchange between Ghana and its Francophone neighbours
💻 Support ICT and community education projects
Your contribution will strengthen cross-border understanding and empower the next generation of youth through education and cultural awareness.
🏡 Accommodation, Food & Transport
🏠 Volunteers will stay at NDAHA Guesthouse, with private lockable rooms (each with toilet and shower).
❄️ Ceiling fans are available in every room.
🍉 Volunteers can cook in a shared kitchen with cabinets and a refrigerator. Tropical fruits, vegetables, and local foods are abundant, while supermarkets in Bolgatanga meet other needs.
🚐 Common local transport includes minibuses, motorbikes, and tricycles.
🎓 Training & Mentorship
This opportunity is part of the BRIDGE Project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development and Gender Equality), which provides volunteers with:
🌍 Experience in community development and empowerment activities
🎓 Participation in UN Women Summits and educational workshops
💻 Training in digital and language education
📚 Non-formal learning opportunities through NGO MONDO’s Child Support and ICT Programmes
👥 Participant Profile
We’re looking for passionate, proactive young people (18–30 years old) who:
✅ Are interested in teaching French as a foreign language
✅ Have experience or motivation to work with children and teachers
✅ Possess strong communication and intercultural skills
✅ Are adaptable to rural living conditions
✅ Are eager to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding
Experience in teaching or tutoring French is an advantage but not mandatory.
