A Center Full of Orphaned Nestlings and Young Mammals

The Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center admits around 4,000 wild animals a year, covering more than 150 native European species. From April to September most admissions are orphaned nestlings and young mammals: swifts, songbirds, corvids, hedgehogs, squirrels and others.

Trainees join the animal care team during this season and work on real cases every day, after an induction and always under supervision.

What You Will Do Every Day

🍼 Care for orphaned birds and mammals: diet preparation, hand-feeding, hygiene, daily weighing and patient records in WRMD

🩺 Support the veterinary team: patient preparation, monitoring of hospitalized animals, enclosure and isolation protocols

πŸ•ŠοΈ Prepare animals for release: soft-release enclosures, release-readiness checks, releases and post-release monitoring

πŸ” Join field work, data projects and public education activities

What Trainees Do Not Do

The listing is clear about the limits of the role: trainees do not carry out veterinary procedures and never work alone or at night.
