🇬🇷 ESC Volunteering in Greece 🤝 Social Inclusion and Digital Literacy With Refugee and Local Youth 💻

Description

This project aims to empower young people from diverse backgrounds by promoting social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, active citizenship, digital literacy, and social entrepreneurship. The project brings together minor refugees, young people with fewer opportunities, and local youth in a safe and supportive environment where they can learn from one another, build meaningful relationships, and actively contribute to their communities.

Through a series of workshops, training sessions, community activities, and collaborative initiatives, participants will develop essential personal, social,and professional skills while strengthening their sense of belonging and European solidarity. The project responds to the growing need for inclusive spaces where marginalized youth can overcome barriers related to social exclusion, cultural isolation, limited access to opportunities, and lack of civic participation.

This opportunity concerns the individual long term volunteering period of the project.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will be accommodated in our Residence integrated directly into the Digital Youth Center, in shared rooms (max 5 people) with private bathroom. The Residence has available a shared kitchen where the volunteers will be able to prepare their meals. At arrival, each volunteer will receive the first 180€ for pocket money and food allowance.

Training during the activity

The activity promotes inclusion of minor refugees, disadvantaged and local youth through bi-weekly workshops, digital literacy, civic participation, intercultural exchange and social entrepreneurship. It addresses isolation, lack of digital access, weak civic engagement and cultural barriers. Expected outcomes include stronger friendships, confidence, employability, active citizenship, respect for diversity and youth-led community initiatives, measured through attendance, surveys, assessments and follow-up of peer and project development.

Participant profile

Based on our European Solidarity Corps project, we are looking for motivated, empathetic, and open-minded young individuals who are passionate about making a positive social impact and upholding core EU values. This initiative strongly emphasizes inclusion and diversity, and we actively encourage young people with fewer opportunities to apply. No specific professional experience is mandatory, but adaptability, a cooperative spirit, and a deep commitment to solidarity are essential. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about fostering social inclusion and breaking down stereotypes. You will directly engage with minor refugees, marginalized individuals, and local youth to create welcoming community environments through regular workshops and social activities. Additionally, we are seeking volunteers interested in the digital transition who are eager to help bridge the digital divide by teaching foundational digital literacy, online safety, and creative skills like video editing and social media management. A strong candidate will also possess a community-driven mindset, a passion for active citizenship, and an interest in social entrepreneurship, helping to guide youth in developing creative solutions to local challenges. Finally, volunteers should be environmentally conscious, ready to promote green practices and sustainability during the project, and excited to participate in meaningful intercultural exchange.
