The idea of the project is to bring 16 volunteers from different cultures to rural East North of Finland. With this project we promote international possibilities to our local youth and specificly we organize 1.) international workshops day in a local school and 2.) a big international cultural activity day for other schools to visit us. The daily tasks are related to planning the workshops and the idea of the whole project is to show YOUR culture to our local youth. Are you interested to join the project? APPLY TODAY! Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation is organised in a "volunteers house" called Metsäpirtti near the main building of Metsäkartano Youth Center. It is a traditional log house by a lake, with kitchen, common living room area and with showers and a sauna. Volunteers share rooms with 2 to 4 people. There will be around 16 volunteers (from Spain, Algeria, Georgia, Finland, Ukraine, Germany, etc...) Food is provided by Metsäkartano youth center, either in our restaurant (usually breakfast/lunch/sometimes also dinner) or by giving supplies to the volunteers to cook in their own cabin.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will be guided to their work by the work leader. Volunteers are also supported by Metsäkartano reception being daily open with a staff member who is always happy to help in case of any issues. In addition there will be also two support staff members, who will work with the volunteers and support their daily life in Metsäkartano. Applicants can request an extra support if needed in case of special needs (for example in case of different abilities, etc.), but this needs to be done prior to the project when applying already.

Participant profile

Our place is near a national park, surrounded by forests and lakes. Evenings and weekends are free time to do many activities around and in the nature. There is no villages nearby. We are looking for volunteers who are prepared to spend the three weeks in a BEAUFITUL NATURE in a unique Finnish location and who also like to spend time outdoors and enjoy the forests on their free time! We know that this is a dream-come-true destination and a project for some, but is it for you? If it sounds good, maybe it's meant to be :) :) ----------- We are looking for MOTIVATED volunteers who can be FULLY committed to take part of the activity. For this project we prioritize youth with fewer opportunities but anyone is welcome to apply. We value equality and diversity in our work community and we demand from all volunteers open-minded attitude and curiousity to get to know the other volunteers who come all from very different backgrounds. We welcome applicants with different genders, abilities and members of different language, cultural or minority groups. We do not ask any special skills, not even English need to be perfect, each year we have volunteers who do not speak English and it has been ok!
