Description
Peupl’en Harmonie is organising ‘Les Visages de Yana’, a major intercultural event that brings young people together to celebrate the richness and diversity of French Guiana. Through presentations, activities and opportunities for sharing, each young person is invited to showcase their culture and identity.
This year, the event will celebrate the mother tongues of French Guiana, which bear witness to its history and cultural diversity.
European volunteers will help with the preparation, organisation and running of the event. They will also assist with welcoming and supporting participants, whilst bringing their own intercultural perspective.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will be accommodated in a practical, fully-equipped house. They will be expected to live in shared accommodation and share communal areas.
A meal allowance is provided.
To get to the organisation’s premises, volunteers will need to use public transport or car-sharing. A vehicle belonging to the organisation will be made available for travel related to their assignments.
Training during the activity
A preparatory training course on hosting in French Guiana will also be held in advance to explain the realities of the region within the context of the Amazon.
An induction day will also be organised for the young people to help them understand the aim of their mission and the operating procedures, etc.
Participant profile
We are looking for motivated and committed volunteers who enjoy working with young adults and would like to help organise the ‘Les Visages de Yana’ event in French Guiana.
An interest in promoting cultural diversity, facilitation and event management is welcome. We are looking for people who are curious, open to cultural diversity, enjoy working in a team and are ready to get involved in the various stages of the event: preparation, set-up, welcoming the public and supporting activities.
Volunteers should be keen to discover French Guiana, its natural environment and its cultures, and be prepared to adapt to a tropical environment as well as to community life. The ability to adapt, show initiative and a desire to learn will be particularly valued.
A basic knowledge of French is desirable to facilitate communication with young people and the local public, as well as a willingness to improve your language skills during your stay. Skills in entertainment, communication, photography, video or the arts would be an advantage.
