What the Youth Start-Up Challenge Is
🚀 Run by the European Commission (under its "Promoting Enterprise" work, part of the Single Market Programme's SME pillar), the Challenge is a chance for young visionaries to share transformative start-up ideas that promote innovation and reflect EU values.
🎤 It is open to students, members of university incubators, and young people already embedded in a cluster ecosystem, essentially anyone aged 18 to 25 with an idea worth sharing.
Who Can Enter
🎂 You must be between 18 and 25 years old (inclusive).
📍 You must be a resident of an EU Member State or a country associated to the SME pillar of the Single Market Programme.
🙋 All applications are submitted under a single applicant's name; if more than one person worked on the idea, only one will be invited to represent the team.
What Your Idea Should Be About
🌱 The Commission is looking for ideas that tackle real challenges, from the green transition and digital transformation to social inclusion and economic resilience.
💡 Above all, your idea should promote innovation and reflect EU values.
What You Submit
🎥 A pitch video of no more than 2 minutes, in English, showcasing your idea, its relevance and your business plan.
📄 A short business plan of no more than 3 pages outlining your concept and approach.
🗣️ Both the video and the business plan must be submitted in English, and only one entry per applicant is allowed.

The Prizes and Where It Leads
🏙️ The three shortlisted candidates are announced online and invited to the SME & Clusters Assembly 2026 in Dublin, Ireland, taking place from 2 to 4 November 2026, where they pitch live.
🏆 The winner is announced on stage and receives an exclusive invitation to the European Innovation Council (EIC) Summit 2027, one of Europe's premier platforms for innovators, investors and policymakers.
💡 According to Youth Works Hub's review, there is no cash prize; the reward is the platform, the exposure and the doors it opens.
