Description

Gamedella has two main aims : โ€“ as an organisation recognised as โ€œhomework clubโ€ : to support the intellectual development, social emancipation, cultural access and the citizenship learning and participation for children from 4 to 15 years old โ€“ as a youth centre recognised by the French community of Belgium: to support the development of an active, critical, in solidarity and responsible citizenship among young people from 12 till 26 years old by putting them into a situation of responsability and learning, by encouraging them to participate into the social, political, cultural and economical aspects of the life within the society Concretely, Gamedella fulfills its aims by organising weekly activities: after school support for children less than 12 years old; free time at the youth center; theatre, music and cooking workshops among other creative activities. During school holidays, Gamedella also proposes holiday camps and activities for children and youth

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You'll be accommodated in Rochefort, the nearby town, 3 km away from Gamedella. You'll share an equipped house with other ESC volunteers active in different projects; you'll have a single room while the kitchen, living room and bathroom are shared. You'll receive a monthly allowance to cover your food and will be able to cook by yourself at home. In order to go from the house to Gamedella, busses, carsharing and cycling are possible options.

Training during the activity

Gamedella will organise a introductory meeting in order to explain the professional behaviour to adopt with the young people attending their activities. You'll have to participate into the seminars organised by the National Agency. CBB, the support organisation also propose three extra residential events to work on your experience, as well as a training for camp leaders twice a year. Gamedella will offer you training opportunities at the same level than their staff

Participant profile

We are looking for 2 volunteers motivated by the volunteering experience and to commit for 30 to 38 hours/week to an important project for the local community. Interested in youth work and in being in touch with young people. Flexible and not afraid to take initiatives. Willing to learn french.
