Green Skills integrates the participants into an international community and facilitates their taking part in civil society and grassroots initiatives. It seeks to address societal issues such as climate change and social discrimination through youth empowerment and competence building. Our main objective relates to environmental challenges that we face globally, as well as to the need for resilience; socially, politically, and environmentally. Through events like workshops and presentations people at Suderbyn have many chances to become more informed about the complexities of environmental, political, and social sustainability. The participants contribute to all aspects of running the ecovillage and are organized in 2 main activity domains, namely: Infrastructure and Permaculture Garden.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will be hosted at Suderbyn ecovillage. Simple accommodation, private rooms, vegan food. The ecovillage is located 9km away from Visby, the main town on the island of Gotland. Gotland is in the middle of the Baltic Sea and part of Sweden. There are daily ferries from Stockholm, capital of Sweden, to the island. You can read more about Suderbyn here: https://suderbyn.se/
Training during the activity
Permaculture gardening: Garden planning, mulching, planting, harvesting, use of garden tools, composting, greenhouse management, foraging
Sustainable food production: Vegan cooking, preservation, drying herbs, baking bread
Low-tech construction, maintenance and renovation
Handicraft: Wood carving, welding, sewing, painting, mechanic, plumbery, electricity
Other areas: Bicycle repair, metal work, electrical work, car maintenance
Communication: Participatory decision-making and sociocracy, conflict resolution, group facilitation
Life-long Learning: Learning to learn, problem solving, critical thinking
Participant profile
Young people aged 18-30 who are interested in spending between 7-12 months in an ecovillage in Sweden, learning about permaculture and building/DIY as well as living in an active community of more than 20 members. This call is for non-eu residents only. We are looking for two participants from outside the EU at this time, with priority to outside of the programme partner countries. A further call will be published for partner and EU residents.
