Description
ActionAid Spain aims to achieve an active citizenship that fights against inequalities and for the recognition of human rights. It carries out development cooperation and education projects to eradicate gender-based violence, migrants' rights and for climate justice. Join us at our headquarters in Madrid! You will work the Communication plans to support advocacy and campaign activities at the EU level by drafting social media posts related to ActionAid EU/Federation advocacy and campaign work for AA’s channels, including breaking stories, new research, key advocacy moments and sharing relevant media coverage. At the end of your experience, you will have increased your knowledge and competences on communication skills oriented to advocacy and campaigning within the EU environment and experience devising and producing successful proactive media campaigns,
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will have the opportunity to live together with other volunteers of different nationalities in a shared flat. The accommodation costs and utility bills will be covered by the hosting organization and free Wi-fi will be provided. You will receive a monthly pocket money for your personal expenses and food and local transport allowance each month, you will also have a health insurance (Henner).
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive training which will cover topics such as: welcome to Alianza por la Solidaridad, welcome to the European Solidarity Corps, responsibilities of the organisations, Youthpass, Henner insurance, motivations, cultural immersion, etc. In addition, you will participate in two Spanish National Agency trainings together with other international volunteers in Spain. In case language support is needed, the volunteer will have free access to online language training (OLS) and the possibility to share language experiences and knowledge with other volunteers.
Participant profile
The volunteer should be motivated and eager to learn, be able to demonstrate cultural awareness, be able to perform research and work independently. Interested on international cooperation, humanitarian aid and education for social transformation. Basic Knowledge and management of web 2.0 applications and new technologies (social networks, web, blog) and basic knowledge in graphic editing will be an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to produce written work of high quality. Spanish will also be necessary to communicate with the whole team and volunteers of ActionAid Spain. Desirable: Proficiency in another language.
