โน๏ธ Description About The Opportunity
Holding the Space โ Building Confidence & Adaptability for Emerging Youth Workers is an Erasmus+ Training Course bringing together 30 participants from 10 European organisations in Ommen, the Netherlands.
The training is designed for emerging youth workers, facilitators, educators, trainers, volunteers, and youth leaders who already have some experience working with groups and want to strengthen their confidence as facilitators in non-formal learning settings.
While many youth workers are familiar with facilitation methods, they often face uncertainty when sessions do not go as planned. This training focuses on developing the facilitator behind the methodsโbuilding the confidence, presence, adaptability, and self-awareness needed to respond effectively to challenging group dynamics and unexpected situations.
Throughout the programme, participants will explore experiential learning through applied theatre, game-based learning, embodied practices, reflection, and peer exchange. Rather than learning fixed activities, participants will develop transferable facilitation competences that can be adapted across different youth work contexts.
Participants will:
- Build confidence in facilitating groups.
- Strengthen their ability to adapt to unexpected situations.
- Develop communication, emotional resilience, and reflective practice.
- Experience practical non-formal education methods that can be transferred into their own work.
- Exchange experiences and build lasting connections with youth workers from across Europe.
The training follows the principles of non-formal education, placing participants at the centre of the learning process through active participation, experiential exercises, reflection, and collaborative learning. It also promotes intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and peer learning within an international environment.
The activity is specifically intended for people actively involved in youth work and non-formal learning, including youth workers, trainers, facilitators, volunteers, educators, and youth leaders who are looking to further develop their facilitation practice.
We welcome applications from motivated participants who are eager to grow both personally and professionally while contributing to a supportive European learning community.
