Description
Join us in Gdańsk and become part of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Gdańsk, supporting local communities and people in need across the Tricity area.
Your main activities will take place in Senior Clubs, where you will spend time with older adults and help create a friendly and inclusive environment. You may join conversations, games, creative workshops, cultural exchange, group activities and outings. You will also support seniors with basic digital skills, such as using smartphones and simple online tools.
You will have space to bring your own ideas: help organize events, prepare materials, contribute to social media or introduce your own activities. Through the project, you will gain experience in the social sector, develop communication and teamwork skills, meet local people and discover Polish culture and everyday life in Gdańsk.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation will be provided and fully covered for the entire duration of the project in a safe and comfortable shared living environment with other volunteers.You will have your own private room. Local transportation to and from your volunteering activities will also be fully covered. In addition, you will receive a monthly food allowance to support your daily meals and pocket money for your living expenses during stay. Health insurance will also be provided for the duration of your volunteering activity.
Training during the activity
Throughout your volunteering experience, you will participate in the European Solidarity Corps training programme, including the Online Training and On-arrival Training, as well as the Mid-term Training for projects lasting more than six months. You will also have access to the EU Academy Polish language course and receive additional language support to help you communicate in everyday situations and gradually improve your Polish.
Participant profile
We are looking for motivated young people who are interested in working with older adults and contributing to their well-being. Empathy, patience, openness and good communication skills will be valuable in this project, as you will interact with seniors in their everyday environment.
You do not need previous professional experience. What matters most is your willingness to learn, participate actively and build genuine connections with the people you meet. An interest in social work, caregiving, education, community activities or intercultural exchange can be an advantage.
Participants must be 18–30 years old and legally residing in one of the countries eligible for this project, as listed in the European Solidarity Corps programme.
