The Office of the Head of Mission of the OSCE Mission to Serbia is looking for an intern for its Political, Communication and Reporting Section (PCRS). The internship is a learning opportunity to see first-hand the work of an OSCE field operation and to contribute as a team member to its political and reporting activities. The selected intern will gain an overview of the work of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, focusing on political affairs and reporting in a dynamic international organization, and will support the overall work of the PCRS, assigned to both the Political Unit and the Reporting Unit.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Policy and Co-ordination and the supervision of the Heads of the two Units, the intern will:
📝 Assist in drafting, reviewing and proofreading reports, correspondence, talking points, background materials, media summaries, articles, draft legislation and other written products
🔎 Conduct fact-finding, research, information verification and analytical tasks, and compile information to support the work of the Office of the Head of Mission
📊 Develop and maintain overviews of the status of key reform initiatives and other priority issues on which the Mission provides assistance
🤝 Liaise with the Mission's field teams and programmatic departments to ensure the accuracy, consistency and comprehensiveness of the Mission's written products
📰 Draft the daily headline news review and news updates and, when required, provide backup in delivering morning press briefings for the Mission's senior staff
📋 Support the preparation of field visits and selected meetings, including drafting meeting minutes as required
🗂️ Maintain, organize and streamline the use of the Units' archives and information management systems
✅ Perform other duties as assigned
Necessary Qualifications
Applicants must hold the citizenship of one of the OSCE participating States, excluding the sole citizenship of the Republic of Serbia, and must be under the age of 30 on the date of the deadline. Applicants who have already served six months of internship in the OSCE, irrespective of the duty station, are not eligible. A university degree in political studies, law, international relations, development studies, journalism, communication or similar fields is required, or completion of at least two years of full-time studies in these fields in lieu. Fluency in English with excellent communication skills is required, knowledge of Serbian, Croatian or Bosnian would be an asset, and strong analytical, research and drafting skills, political sensitivity, computer literacy (including Microsoft packages and Zoom), and demonstrated gender awareness are expected. Previous experience in an international organization, diplomacy, governmental, civil society or political organizations would be an asset.

Compensation and Insurance
All internships with the OSCE are unpaid; the OSCE cannot pay any remuneration or reimburse travel expenses to or from the place of assignment. However, some compensation towards the cost of living is offered to interns who do not have registered residence in Belgrade and who do not receive financial support from an educational institution; in 2027 this amounts to EUR 17.4 per day (10% of the Board and Lodging Allowance), and the OSCE will cover the costs of any official travel undertaken during the internship. Selected interns must provide evidence of health insurance valid for Serbia, otherwise they must join the OSCE group health insurance and pay the premium in full (EUR 129.44 per month); the OSCE bears the premium costs of group life and accident/disability insurance.
