The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is offering an internship within the SOFF Secretariat in Geneva. This internship offers an opportunity for a young professional to gain experience working for a specialized climate fund and overseeing aspects of portfolio management, as well as experience working for a United Nations specialized agency and specifically on climate finance.


Duties and Responsibilities

๐Ÿ“Š Support the monitoring and administration of SOFF Readiness phase outputs in coordination with the WMO Technical Authority

๐Ÿ“ˆ Assist in monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the SOFF Readiness and Investment phase, including supporting progress report analysis to ensure efficient monitoring of SOFF implementation

๐Ÿงพ Support the review process of the Investment funding requests, including related processes through the UNMPTF Gateway platform

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Support the tracking of implementation progress and key reporting requirements

๐Ÿ“ฅ Compile and provide operational data and information to the SOFF team

๐Ÿ’พ Assist in maintaining and updating the SOFF Operations Database and SOFF Learning platform

Who Can Apply

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Environmental Science, Climate, Disaster Risk Management, International Relations or a related field. A master's degree is considered an advantage. Pursuant to WMO Standing Instructions, the minimum age to be eligible for consideration is 18, and the maximum age must enable the candidate to serve for at least the term of the contract before reaching the mandatory age of separation.


Experience

โœ๏ธ Strong writing and communication skills in English

๐ŸŒ Experience working on climate change related projects or programmes

๐Ÿ’ถ Experience working on development projects or climate finance, especially in developing countries, is an advantage

๐Ÿค Experience working in international contexts

Other Requirements

โš™๏ธ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively

Languages
