The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. The Geneva Global Office ensures the representation and positioning of WFP within multilateral and Member State dialogues, with the objective of ensuring support and attention to Ending Hunger, including through WFP operations. Bolstered by technical experts outposted from Headquarters, the office engages in key dialogues related to humanitarian diplomacy, emergency preparedness and response, cluster, global health and supply chain processes.
The intern will help in the achievement of the objectives set for 2026, including supporting analysis for WFP's positioning on humanitarian policy and governance discussions, increasing Member State engagement including the sharing of information and updates related to WFP operations, and outreach to private sector partners in Switzerland.
Duties and Responsibilities

Learning Elements
Throughout the assignment, the intern will support engagement with partners in counterpart organizations and with Member States in Geneva. In coordination with the various technical leads, the intern will map and build entry points for engagement with partners, including recommended positions, and identify opportunities to advocate for WFP operations and to contribute to progress discussions related to food security. Increased communication with, and briefings for, Member States and multilateral partners will be supported. The intern will develop proven experience in partner and stakeholder mapping, engagement, analysis and position development, and briefing and communication preparation.

Who Can Apply
You should be a bachelor's student who has completed at least two years, or a master's student from a recognized university who has attended classes in the last 12 months; or you should have completed university within 6 months prior to the application and have attended classes in the last 12 months. Excellent written and spoken English is required, at proficiency level C. Working knowledge of another official UN language is an asset. Previous exposure to multilateral, national government or NGO policy development would be an asset, as would previous international education or work experience, and previous experience in brief or communications preparation. You should have a basic understanding of government strategies, and be able to develop powerful narratives using data analysis and visualization to enable action-oriented discussions with partners.

Funding
Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP, up to a maximum of US$1,000 per month, depending on the duty station of assignment. WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, visa requests or related costs. WFP will reimburse the travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
