🔷 Activity Details

Description

The project will be promoted and developed by YUPI – Youth Union of People with Initiative, in Guimarães, Portugal. Volunteers will join the YUPI team and take part in the first steps of transforming an old farm into a sustainable space for volunteers and future international projects. Activities will include agroforestry, organic farming, garden preparation and maintenance, caring for chickens and supporting organic egg production, as well as building and renovating spaces with natural materials. Volunteers will work together, share skills and ideas, and contribute to creating a sustainable space for future projects. This is an opportunity to gain practical experience, work as part of a team and contribute to sustainable and international projects.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will stay at a family farm in Atães, Guimarães, in tents with shared toilets and showers. Mattresses, bed sheets, blankets and towels are provided. Wi-Fi is available, although the signal is limited. Meals will be provided during hosting activities and will be mostly vegetarian, respecting dietary restrictions. Pocket money will be provided by the Hosting Organization as well as costs of travel, accommodation, food, local transportation and activities. The environmental way of travelling (train, bus, etc.) is strongly encouraged.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will learn through hands-on activities and international teamwork, gaining practical experience in agroforestry, organic farming, gardening, caring for chickens, organic egg production, and building and renovating spaces with natural materials. They will also have the opportunity to share skills and ideas while working together with the YUPI team. A local mentor and YouthPass are also provided.
