Join an amazing 180-day volunteering journey on the Zanzibar island! "Live and Share" is an ESC Humanitarian Aid volunteering placement hosted by the Assalam Community Foundation, where you rotate through different departments and gain diverse experience in education, sustainability, humanitarian work, and community engagement. You will assist teachers in classrooms, take part in organic farming activities, support vulnerable families, manage social media, and help organise events and workshops, all while working alongside local staff. Tasks vary depending on community needs, weather conditions, and ongoing projects.


๐ŸŒ Operational and Security Context

The volunteering activity takes place in Zanzibar, Tanzania, mainly within the Assalam Community Foundation eco-village and its local community projects. Volunteers live and work in a culturally diverse environment and are expected to respect local customs, community rules, and organisational safety procedures. Before and during the deployment, volunteers receive guidance on the local context, health and safety, cultural awareness, and emergency procedures. The hosting organisation provides supervision and regular support, and volunteers must be prepared to follow safety instructions and adapt their activities when required due to weather conditions, local circumstances, or operational needs.

โœ… Eligibility Criteria

๐ŸŽ‚ Be between 18 and 35 years old

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Be a citizen or legal resident of an EU Member State or a country associated with the Programme

๐Ÿ“˜ Have completed the compulsory EU Academy online training and the face-to-face Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training

โณ Not have completed more than 12 months in total of European Solidarity Corps volunteering, including individual volunteering and volunteering teams

๐Ÿ  Working and Living Conditions

๐Ÿงญ Guidance on community rules, cultural context, and safety procedures before and during the deployment, plus initial orientation and task-related training

๐Ÿค Regular supervision and support from the hosting organisation, a designated coordinator, and regular follow-up meetings

๐Ÿ”„ Flexible tasks adapted to community needs, weather conditions, and ongoing projects, with access to the equipment and facilities needed

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Accommodation in a safe and peaceful environment within the eco-village, with electricity and Wi-Fi provided where available, and a shared bathroom with hot and cold water

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ A food allowance and monthly pocket money in accordance with European Solidarity Corps rules

โœˆ๏ธ Travel costs reimbursed up to the amount determined by programme guidelines, with visa, vaccinations, and insurance costs covered

A total of 25 weeks (180 days) during the period 20 September 2026 to 30 August 2027. Exact deployment dates will be agreed with the selected volunteer and confirmed by the partner organisations. The activity location is Abdul-Aziz Evi, Dimbani, Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, Tanzania.
