The European Investment Bank is the European Union's bank. It works in support of EU development and economic cooperation policies by financing investment in both public and private sectors. The EIB is seeking to recruit for its Representation in Kyiv a Banker.
๐ถ Purpose
As part of the Ukraine Investment team, you will carry out EIB lending and guarantee operations that support EU development and cooperation policies with public sector counterparties, corporates and financial institutions in Ukraine, taking end-to-end responsibility for their identification, appraisal, negotiation, approval and follow-up until first disbursement.

You will report to a Head of Unit based in Luxembourg on all matters, including your use of time, leave and professional travel, and the alignment with your role as per your job description and objectives. You will also have a reporting line to the Head of the Regional Hub for Eastern Europe, the Kyiv Office, regarding adherence to EIB best practices in terms of conduct, support to the EIB's institutional mission in the region, and security, safety and wellbeing. ๐ฆ Accountabilities
๐ Contribute to the identification, appraisal, approval and signature of suitable projects with public sector, corporates and financial institutions in order to develop a portfolio of operations in line with the Bank's objectives and guidelines, ensuring consistent application of EIB policies and procedures
๐ง Evaluate the needs for ancillary instruments, including blending with investment grants and technical assistance, and carry out the preparation, approval and implementation of such instruments in coordination with other colleagues
๐ค Maintain and foster relationships with public sector, corporates, financial institutions and other relevant stakeholders in Ukraine, supporting deal origination and portfolio management
๐ Carry out project due diligence with examination of sector data and information, detailed analysis of financial proposals and transactions including structuring and cash flow modelling, and analysis of counterparts including financial statement analysis of financial institutions and corporates
๐ Keep abreast of market and relevant sector developments and provide briefings to headquarters
๐ค Upon request, represent the EIB at stakeholder events and participate in the operational activities organised by the Kyiv Office
๐ฐ Contribute to fundraising in order to bring additional resources to the EU for Ukraine
๐ Monitor the disbursement process and contractual compliance in close cooperation with other services of the Bank, follow up developments of the project, and ensure a regular review of the financial position of counterparts and projects and contractual compliance
๐ Carry out due diligence and, in the event of any restructuring or contractual modifications, negotiate in liaison with other services of the Bank in order to maintain the quality of the loan portfolio and ensure the effective implementation of the financed project
โ Qualifications
๐ University degree, minimum an equivalent to a bachelor, in Finance, Economics or another business-related discipline
๐ผ Minimum five years of relevant experience in the banking, financial or development sector
๐ Good knowledge of financial analysis as well as proven experience in credit risk assessment
๐ Good knowledge of processes and procedures related to the administration, control and monitoring of lending operations
๐ Knowledge and work experience with the region would be an advantage
๐ฃ๏ธ Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and a good command of Ukrainian, and any other EU language would be an advantage
๐ป Good knowledge of standard computer tools, and strong diplomatic and communication skills are essential

The position is open to nationals from Ukraine. Although mainly operating from Kyiv, the successful candidate should also be prepared to travel within the region and occasionally to headquarters in Luxembourg.
