Do you want to tell the story of the United Nations to audiences across India? The United Nations Information Centre in New Delhi (UNIC New Delhi) is offering a Communications Support Internship within the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications.

About UNIC New Delhi

The United Nations Information Centres (UNICs) are part of the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications and are the principal sources of information about the United Nations system in the countries where they are located. They promote greater public understanding of, and support for, the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating information on the work of the Organization, especially in developing countries. UNIC New Delhi, one of 59 active UNICs worldwide, undertakes a wide range of media, outreach and strategic communications activities, including creating and publishing original multimedia content, conducting media outreach, engaging with government, universities, schools, civil society and the private sector, organising public events, maintaining digital information resources, and translating UN materials into local languages. The intern works under the supervision of the National Information Officer.

What You'll Do

๐Ÿ“ฐ Assist in media monitoring.

๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ Assist in preparing communications materials, including for public events, web articles, social media posts and media relations.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Assist in creating public information content for web, social media, media outlets and other key audiences, aligned with UN International Days, flagship reports and country priorities.

๐ŸŽฌ Assist in organizing, selecting and using film/video footage for social media and feature stories.

๐Ÿ”Ž Conduct research for UN events and campaigns and support the implementation of UN campaigns and events.

๐ŸŽช Provide organizing and logistical support for UNIC events and activities, draft content for the website and social media, and carry out other tasks as requested.

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ“ Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).

๐Ÿ“˜ Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

Computer literacy in standard software applications, a demonstrated interest in the work of the UN and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter, and the ability to interact with people of different cultural backgrounds are required. No working experience is required; proof of eligibility must be provided.

Languages

Fluency in English is required.

The Details

๐Ÿ“ Location: New Delhi, India (in person).

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Expected duration: a continuous three-month assignment with no breaks, extendable up to a maximum of six months subject to needs, availability and performance. Interns work full time, five days per week.

๐Ÿ’ผ The internship is unpaid. Travel, visas, accommodation and living costs are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
