Are you a recent graduate looking to build a career in human resources within a leading humanitarian organization? The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world's leading humanitarian NGOs, is looking for a highly motivated HR Intern for its operations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

About DRC

In around 30 countries, DRC protects, advocates and builds sustainable futures for refugees and other displacement-affected people and communities, joining a global workforce of around 6,000 employees. This internship is designed to provide a learning opportunity for newly graduated candidates by allowing them to do actual work and support the organization.

What You'll Do

🗂️ Assist HR in ensuring all personnel files are complete and accurate, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.

📞 Assist the HR team in contacting and arranging written exams and interviews for different positions.

🛡️ Assist in handling insurance-related issues of staff in an organized and professional manner.

🧭 Assist in organizing orientations.

📋 Assist the HR Officer in ensuring all staff in DRC Addis and field offices are registered in the government pension scheme and keeping the record in the personal file.

🆔 Issue staff IDs, participate in HR related activities as directed, and undertake any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Who Can Apply

🎓 Diploma or BA in Management, HR Management or other relevant business fields.

💼 0-1 year experience, high integrity, pro-active, stable and robust character, and a good team player.

🗣️ Excellent communication skills, proven commitment to accountability practices, and knowledge of computers (word processing, database management packages).

Candidates are expected to demonstrate DRC's five core competencies: striving for excellence, collaborating, taking the lead, communicating, and demonstrating integrity. Only qualified Ethiopian nationals are encouraged to apply, and female candidates are strongly encouraged.

Languages

Basic English communication skills, and fluency in Amharic, are required.

The Details

📍 Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

🗓️ Contract length: 12 months, national contract. Start date: 10 August 2026.

💶 Salary and conditions are in accordance with DRC's Terms of Employment for national employees.
