The European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is a grant-giving organisation based in Brussels. Its goal is to provide flexible support to democracy activists, complementing other EU and member state democracy support programmes. About the Traineeship

EED is seeking a trainee for a twelve-month traineeship in Grant-making Support (Arabic). The trainee will assist in the EED grant-making contractual, financial, and administrative process. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is required for this role.

Responsibilities

๐Ÿ“„ Assist in the preparation of grant agreements, addenda, and other standard contractual documentation

๐Ÿงพ Assist in the review of financial reports, including detailed checking of invoices and other financial supporting documents, to ensure compliance with EED requirements, and draft feedback to beneficiaries as well as internal memos

๐ŸŒ Translate brief texts from your mother tongue into English and vice versa

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Update the database and maintain the archive

๐Ÿค Assist with other administrative tasks of the Grants team

Requirements

๐Ÿ“š Knowledge of the grant-making cycle and experience in administrative work and detailed assessment of financial reports is strongly preferred

๐Ÿ“Š Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary

๐Ÿ” A high drive for detail and accuracy

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Proficiency in Arabic in addition to English

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ‚ EED requires all trainees to be less than 30 years old

Non-EU nationals must fulfil the following criteria at the time of selection in order to be eligible to receive a Belgian work permit:

๐ŸŽ“ Hold a university degree that is not older than 24 months, or be currently enrolled at a university in a third country (non-EU)
