Imagine waking up in Reykjavik, helping international travellers plan their day around glaciers and the Northern Lights, and learning how a small hospitality business truly works, not from a textbook, but from the guest inbox, the front desk, and the daily operations behind the scenes. This Erasmus+ funded internship at a unique Icelandic guesthouse is built for someone who wants real, hands-on experience in guest care, operations, marketing, and even AI-supported workflows, all while exploring one of the most breathtaking countries in the world.

About the Host

The host is a unique hospitality business in Iceland, focused on creating comfortable, personal, and memorable stays for international guests. Their work combines guest communication, daily operations, property management, back-office tasks, marketing, and continuous improvement. They are especially interested in developing smarter systems and moving more of their business processes toward automation and AI-supported workflows.

This placement is a great fit for someone who wants practical experience in a small hospitality business, particularly if they are interested in customer care, operations, entrepreneurship, marketing, and learning how a business works from the inside. You will not only observe the business; you will actively take part in the daily work and understand how guest experience, reviews, reservations, communication, and operations are all connected.

About the Role

The host is looking for a motivated trainee who enjoys interacting with people, can work independently, and wants to support the daily operations of the business.

The main focus of the role is guest communication and customer care. You will help answer guest questions, support reservations, give local advice, assist with breakfast-related tasks, and help ensure that the houses are prepared and maintained to a high standard.

The role also includes practical operational tasks. Depending on the day, you may support the team with preparing guest areas, checking rooms, assisting with housekeeping coordination, and helping the house run smoothly. The host is clear about this: it is a hands-on hospitality role, not only an office position.

For the right person, there is also the possibility to get involved in marketing, content creation, process improvement, and AI integration projects. Ideas and initiative are genuinely welcome, especially from people who are interested in learning how to improve efficiency in a small business. This position is especially suitable for someone who may want to start their own business in the future and wants real practical experience instead of only theoretical learning.
