Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking is running a call for expression of interest for trainees in its Legal team, for the Autumn session starting October 2026. The programme gives trainees an understanding of the Joint Undertakings and their role within the EU, and the chance to acquire practical knowledge and professional experience.


About Global Health EDCTP3 JU

A partnership between the European Union and the EDCTP Association, uniting over 40 African and European countries. The JU tackles global health challenges in sub-Saharan Africa by supporting collaborative research to develop new medicines, vaccines and diagnostics. It is established until 31 December 2031 and is located in Brussels, Belgium.


The Traineeship Programme

As a trainee you'll have the opportunity to:

You'll develop the ability to work effectively in a complex multinational environment, accuracy and attention to detail, organisational and communication skills, report-writing skills, web-tool/database management and time management.


Job Description

With the guidance of a supervisor, you'll work with colleagues across areas including:

โš–๏ธ Supporting the Legal Officers in their daily activities, gaining practical insight into legal and administrative processes

๐Ÿ” Assisting in data protection activities: drafting and updating Data Protection Notices (DPNs), maintaining the Data Protection Register and supporting the Data Protection Officer (DPO)

๐Ÿ“จ Acting as a contact point for communication with the data protection contractor, under supervision

๐Ÿ”Ž Conducting legal research and contributing to legal analysis, including first drafts of internal guidance and background notes

๐Ÿค Supporting Legal Officers in cooperation with contributing partners: answering legal emails, and revising and commenting on the funding agreement

๐Ÿ“‹ Supporting grant management: eligibility checks, contributions and annexes

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Performing administrative and organisational tasks: drafting correspondence, organising files, timely follow-up, quality-checking templates and managing the Data Protection functional mailbox


Eligibility Criteria

๐ŸŒ Nationality: a national of an EU member state, or of an EDCTP Association country participating in the Global Health EDCTP3 programme

๐ŸŽ“ Education: completed university studies of at least three years (attested by a diploma) or ongoing post-university studies

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Languages: thorough knowledge of one official EU language and satisfactory knowledge (at least B2) of another

โณ Prior experience: not having previously done more than six weeks of paid or unpaid traineeship or any employment in another EU institution, agency or body

๐Ÿ“Œ You must clearly specify each criterion (nationality, diploma, languages) in your application, or you will be disqualified


Selection Criteria

Essential

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Very good command of oral and written English (at least C1)

โš–๏ธ University degree or master's in Law, European Law, International Law or another relevant legal discipline

๐Ÿ’ป Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Advantageous

๐Ÿ’ผ Professional experience or project development related to the traineeship tasks

๐Ÿ“š Knowledge of EU law, procurement or grant-related legal frameworks and data protection regulations

Conditions & Remuneration

๐Ÿ’ถ Grant of โ‚ฌ1,539.16 per month (25% of the monthly basic salary of an AD 5, step 1 official)

โœˆ๏ธ Reimbursement of travel expenses at the start and end of the traineeship

๐Ÿฅ Mandatory health and accident insurance, organised by the trainee
