ESN Porto is looking for a Communication Intern to join the team behind the most exciting Erasmus city of 2024 — growing your skills in a multicultural environment while supporting and connecting international students through engaging communication and creative content. You'll choose one of three focus areas based on your interests and skills.
About ESN Porto
A local section of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), one of the largest student associations in Europe. They support and connect over 3,000 international students in Porto every year through cultural, social and recreational activities — from cozy events to trips, parties and volunteering projects. In 2024, Porto was awarded Erasmus Destination of the Year. Their mission is to create a welcoming, inclusive and unforgettable experience for every international student who chooses the city.
Graphic Design Focus
You'll make ESN's ideas visually come to life — from event posters to Instagram stories — helping maintain a consistent, engaging visual identity across platforms.
🎨 Design promotional materials (posters, flyers, presentations)
📱 Create visuals for social media (posts, stories, highlights)
🛍️ Design merch products and digital templates
🖼️ Edit photos for promotional use
✅ Ensure alignment with ESN's branding
Profile: a background in Communication / Graphic Design or similar is a plus, experience with Canva and/or Adobe tools (Illustrator, Photoshop), a good eye for visual balance and detail, and photo editing skills as a strong asset.
Audiovisual & Video Editing Focus
You'll be the go-to person for video content — from covering events to creating engaging reels and TikToks, bringing initiatives to life through motion and sound.
🎬 Capture and edit videos for social media (reels, TikTok, aftermovies)
📝 Plan and script videos for campaigns
📸 Support photo and video coverage at events
📲 Ensure content fits platform formats and trends
🔍 Stay updated on audiovisual / TikTok trends
🖼️ Edit event photos when needed
Profile: a background in Audiovisual Communication / Multimedia or similar is a plus, skilled with CapCut, DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro, familiar with TikTok and Instagram trends, comfortable filming with phone or camera, and photo editing experience is highly valued.
Community & Social Media Focus
Perfect for someone who lives on social media and knows how to connect with an audience — you'll be the voice behind the channels, making sure international students feel heard, informed and welcomed.
💬 Engage with the community on Instagram (DMs, comments, broadcast channel)
📲 Moderate and update WhatsApp groups for students
🗓️ Help schedule and publish stories/posts with the social media team
❓ Respond to FAQs and guide users to resources
📊 Monitor engagement and trends, sharing insights with the team
🤝 Maintain a friendly, inclusive community tone
Profile: a background in Communication / Social Media Management / Marketing or similar is a plus, experience in communication and social media management is recommended, passionate about community-building, organised, responsive and fluent in English, with experience using Instagram and WhatsApp groups.
