EUROCONTROL is the pan-European civil-military organisation dedicated to supporting European aviation and ensuring safe and efficient air traffic management across the continent. The Skyline Traineeship Programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice โ€” giving young talents the chance to apply their skills in a real-world setting within the aviation data ecosystem.

What Is This Traineeship?

A paid traineeship of 6 months โ€” starting 1 October 2026 โ€” with the possibility to extend to a total of 12 months. The placement is available across four EUROCONTROL sites: Brussels, Brรฉtigny-sur-Orge, Luxembourg, and Maastricht.

โš ๏ธ The selected candidate must reside either at the assigned location or within reasonable proximity that allows for the satisfactory execution of their duties.

Main Learning Objectives & Tasks

Depending on educational background and field of interest, trainees could be:

๐Ÿ“Š Supporting data collection, preprocessing, and analysis for various projects and initiatives โ€” including AI models, programme reporting, or lifecycle assessment tools

๐Ÿค– Participating in the development, evaluation, and validation of machine learning models and algorithms

๐Ÿ›ซ Acquiring knowledge of software tools for evaluating navigation infrastructure performance โ€” supporting real-case assessments through simulations and contributing to the ongoing development and validation of such tools

๐Ÿ“ˆ Engaging with stakeholders to design dashboards for data presentation โ€” integrating relevant data sources and conducting user testing sessions to gather feedback

๐Ÿ”„ Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation in data collection, preprocessing, and analysis

Who Should Apply?

๐Ÿ”น Currently studying or recently graduated in Aerospace/ATM, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Meteorology, or an equivalent field

Eligibility Criteria

๐Ÿ”น Nationality: Must be a national of one of the EUROCONTROL or ECAC Member States

๐Ÿ”น Education: Currently studying for a post-secondary qualification (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) โ€” or graduated within one year before the traineeship start date

๐Ÿ”น English: Good command of both written and verbal English โ€” French is a great asset but not always required

๐Ÿ”น No previous EUROCONTROL traineeship longer than 6 months โ€” those with a previous traineeship of less than 6 months may still apply, up to a total combined duration of 12 months

Monthly Allowance by Location

๐Ÿ’ถ Brussels: โ‚ฌ1,350.00 per month

๐Ÿ’ถ Luxembourg: โ‚ฌ1,350.00 per month

๐Ÿ’ถ Maastricht: โ‚ฌ1,547.10 per month (subject to annual cost-of-living update)
