DESCRIPTION

If you too believe that a better world is possible, join us! WeWorld works especially for girls, boys, women and young people, actors of change in every community for a fairer and more inclusive world. It helps people to overcome emergencies and guarantee a life worth living, by offering opportunities and a better future through programmes of human and economic development. We are looking for one volunteer, who has not participated in an ESC humanitarian aid individual volunteering, who will join WeWorld Kenya within the framework of the VOLACT project! You will learn how to support the project team in implementing and monitoring activities focusing on social inclusive entrepreneurship and income generating activities, strengthening youth network capacities on green technology initiatives and digital economic ventures/e-commerce for the green economy. You will acquire knowledge on climate change and environmental protection and how to collaborate with local communities.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The Host Organization will cover the accommodation costs and utility bills and you will be provided with free Wi-fi, a local sim card and a laptop. The project will cover your travel costs from your place of origin to the venue of the activity and return, food and local travel costs in the host country. You will receive a pocket money for your personal expenses throughout the duration of the activity. Insurance (Henner) will be activated for the whole duration of your deployment.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

You will attend an online pre-departure training on WeWorld’s work and policies, technical and thematic aspects of humanitarian aid, Safety&Security, mentoring, and practical arrangements (visa, insurance, etc). Once in the country, you will participate in an on-arrival training on the Host organization and your role during the deployment. We encourage you to participate in training opportunities during your deployment, online or organized by our national and international partners; you will have a small budget for external courses and you will have access to WeWorld e-learning platform.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

We look for a motivated person, ready to socialize and experience a different culture, able to adapt and work in a team for a period of 8 months. Are you interested in project management, climate change and international cooperation? You will be supported by a line manager and a field mentor that will follow up on your volunteering experience. Please note that the total amount of time spent by a young person in European Solidarity Corps volunteering activities must not exceed 12 months. Activities carried out under Erasmus+ volunteering/European Voluntary Service count towards the total of 12 months allowed. Equality and inclusiveness are part of the core values of EU and WeWorld. The European Solidarity Corps initiative provides opportunities that are accessible for all. However, some people cannot benefit equally from these opportunities because they face various barriers. Inclusion of people facing access barriers or having fewer opportunities is a key objective of European Solidarity Corps Program, aiming at establishing a dedicated framework for inclusion measures. In the process of collecting and selecting your application for ESC Program, WeWorld includes Inclusion and Diversity criteria in its selection process.
