DESCRIPTION

The 'Community Outreach and Event Organization' activity engages volunteers from diverse European backgrounds in planning and delivering community events focused on key social, cultural, and environmental issues such as diversity, sustainability, and digital inclusion. Volunteers are involved in all stages, from concept development to logistics, promotion, and community engagement. The activity promotes social inclusion and solidarity by creating accessible events that involve local and marginalized groups. It fosters intercultural exchange, strengthens European identity, and encourages active citizenship. Participants also develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and project management, enhancing their employability and ability to work in diverse European contexts.


ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The organization ensures a safe and supportive environment for ESC volunteers in Évora. Volunteers stay in shared, fully equipped apartments, receive a meal allowance, and benefit from public transport access. Integration is supported through orientation, regular check-ins, language courses, and cultural activities. Health and safety are ensured via insurance and risk management, promoting well-being and a high-quality volunteering experience aligned with ESC standards.


TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

Volunteers gain practical skills in project management, communication, and event organization while developing teamwork, leadership, and intercultural competences. The activity strengthens confidence, adaptability, and resilience, and expands professional networks, improving employability. It promotes social responsibility and European solidarity through community engagement on key societal issues. Learning is reinforced through reflection and recognition tools such as Youthpass, supporting personal growth and future opportunities.


PARTICIPANT PROFILE

We’re looking for volunteers with fewer opportunities. This means economic, social or geographical obstacles, educational difficulties and/or cultural differences; aged between 18-30. Moreover, we’re looking for volunteers interested in this project’s topic (Community Outreach and Event Organization), eager to learn more, share knowledge with Stairs and Levels Associação target groups in Évora and, of course, ready to bring amazing creative ideas! Volunteers should also be comfortable with living on their own, be adaptable to new situations and demonstrate good problem-solving skills and critical thinking. We will select the volunteers to this project according to the following criteria: motivation to acquire knowledge on the project’s topic; motivation to work with youth and contribute to the local community development; interest in working in a multicultural environment; ability to start, develop and implement their own activity ideas. After the preliminary selection, based on the application, candidates will be asked to provide their CV, 1 motivation letter and 1 letter of recomentadion.
