Many youth workers fall in love with Nonviolent Communication during a training. They experience connection, empathy, and a new way of being with others. And then real life happens โ€” busy schedules, conflicts, emotional overload โ€” and slowly, almost unnoticed, the connection fades. This training course is for that moment.

KALM International Trainings is organising It's a Love Story โ€” Living Nonviolent Communication in Youth Workโ€” a 10-day Erasmus+ training course taking place in Drusti, Latvia, from 7 to 18 August 2026. The course brings together youth workers, educators, facilitators, and volunteers from 8 countries who already have experience with NVC and want to move from knowing it to actually living it.

What Is This Training About?

The aim is not to become perfect in NVC. It is to support youth workers in transforming their relationship with NVC from a short-lived inspiration into a sustainable, embodied practice โ€” one that holds up in stressful situations, conflicts, and the daily reality of youth work. The project is an invitation to reconnect, to practice, and to feel supported by a community that understands the same challenges.

Objectives

๐Ÿ’ฌ Supporting participants to remain constructive, empathetic, and supportive โ€” even in moments of stress, conflict, or pressure

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Introducing role plays, reflection, NVC exercises, and body-based practices to integrate communication skills into everyday life

๐Ÿค Enabling youth workers to stay connected to themselves and others and act as positive role models for young people

๐ŸŒ Encouraging peer-to-peer learning and mutual support to reduce isolation and prevent burnout

๐Ÿ“ฆ Sharing concrete tools and strategies participants can bring back to their organisations and communities

What You Will Have Space to Do

๐Ÿง  Practice NVC in a safe environment with people who already understand and value it

๐ŸŒฟ Live NVC beyond planned sessions โ€” in daily moments, conversations, and real interactions

๐Ÿ™‹ Ask for support, ask questions, and learn from experienced NVC trainers and practitioners

๐Ÿ’™ Offer yourself empathy โ€” especially in moments of doubt or disconnection

๐Ÿ” Reflect on what holds you back and explore your learning edges, feelings, and needs
