🌍 Overview of the Experience
This is not a typical volunteering project… this is night shifts on the beach to protect real wildlife.
In Mersin 🇹🇷, you’ll be directly involved in protecting sea turtle nests and hatchlings, working in one of the most sensitive periods of their life cycle.
🐢 What You’ll Be Doing
🌊 Protect sea turtle nests (Caretta Caretta & Chelonia Mydas)
🐣 Help baby turtles safely reach the sea
🌙 Night patrols (10 PM – 5 AM, in shifts)
🚶 Walk long distances on the beach (~8 km with breaks)
🧹 Clean Kazanlı Beach (main activity)
📱 Create environmental awareness content
🗣️ Join Turkish language support sessions
Sea turtles return to the same beaches where they were born, which makes protecting nesting areas extremely critical for their survival.
ESC environmental projects like this combine conservation with direct action — meaning your presence can literally impact survival rates. If you're searching how to join wildlife conservation volunteering or ESC environmental projects in Türkiye, this is one of the most hands-on examples.
