Applications are now open for the Deutsche Welle (DW) Traineeship 2027–2028, one of Germany’s most respected international journalism training programs.

This paid 18-month traineeship offers aspiring journalists a unique opportunity to gain professional experience across TV, radio, online, and multimedia platforms — all within the dynamic international environment of DW’s offices in Bonn and Berlin, and its global field bureaus.

👥 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a native speaker of one of DW’s broadcast languages with excellent English and good German, or
  • Be a native English speaker with good German skills, or
  • Be a native German speaker with excellent English skills.
  • Hold a university degree, college degree, or completed vocational training (especially in IT, science, politics, economics, or law).
  • Have initial journalistic experience.
  • Demonstrate creativity, social media expertise, and the ability to work under deadlines in a team setting.
