At Youth Works Hub, we read the full vacancy and listed every requirement, responsibility and condition below, so you can judge your fit before you apply.

About UNICEF and Why This Role Exists

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, defend their rights and help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. It provides and advocates for education, health and nutrition services, protects children from violence and abuse, brings clean water and sanitation to those in need and keeps children safe from climate change and disease.

UNICEF is the world's largest provider of vaccines and also runs the world's largest humanitarian warehouse. Before, during and after emergencies, its teams are on the ground with life-saving help.

The Supply Chain Problem This Post Tackles

UNICEF carried out two independent nutrition supply chain assessments in 2024 and 2025. They identified four recurring gaps:

๐Ÿงฉ Fragmented data ecosystems with limited interoperability between existing systems.

๐Ÿ”ญ Visibility gaps from the UNICEF warehouse handover through distribution chains to the point of use: health facilities, community health workers and beneficiaries.

๐Ÿงพ Weak accountability mechanisms and limited capacity of government and implementing partners to track and monitor supply utilisation.

๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Insufficient last-mile monitoring, which makes it difficult to detect diversion, misuse, stockouts or under-utilisation at the point of delivery.

Two Strategic Pillars of the Assignment

The Supply & Logistics Officer provides technical support to the country office on two interconnected pillars.

Pillar 1: A Digital Solution for Supply Visibility and Accountability

You design and implement an integrated digital solution that extends UNICEF visibility from warehouse handover through government and implementing partner distribution chains to health facilities and beneficiary level. It includes real-time accountability mechanisms to detect supply diversion, misuse or underutilisation, using the Last Mile Supply Monitoring (LMSM) tool.

Pillar 2: Government System Strengthening for Logistics Information Management

You strengthen the capacity of government and implementing partners in supply chain data management, transparency and decision-making. The goal is to establish sustainable digital systems that integrate existing data ecosystems and support coherent logistics information management.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

The vacancy lists four key functions:

๐Ÿ’ป Digital solution design, system analysis and implementation of Last Mile Supply Monitoring.

๐Ÿค Capacity strengthening and multi-stakeholder coordination for the rollout of the logistics management information system.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Technical and operational support to programme implementation.

UNICEF also attaches a full Terms of Reference to the vacancy, titled "Supply & Logistics Officer (TA) - Abuja, Nigera", for candidates who want to read the complete job description.
