🇮🇹 ESC Volunteering in Italy 🤝 Solidarity Food Aid and Youth Centre Support at a Social Centre 🍞

Description

● Volunteers will assist the Caritas centre with their daily operations. They will help distribute food and clothing to people in need. Manage the warehouse to store food aid for distribution. Sort and store donated clothes for distribution.

● They will assist in the management and animation of the Youth Centre, including supporting youth mobility and employment orientation, organising and implementing youth events, and assisting with the preparation, cataloguing, and logistics of the centre’s spaces.

● Helping to organise solidarity and community events, contributing to the planning and implementation of the events.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The host house is located in the centre of Sant'Agata di Militello. Volunteers will sleep in a double room shared by gender. Toilets and showers are also shared by gender and free Wi-Fi is available. At certain times of the year, volunteers may have the opportunity to share the common areas of the house with small groups of international volunteers who support the centre in its activities.

A bus pass will be provided by the organisation.

A monthly pocket money and food allowance and travel costs are provided according to the programme guide.

Training during the activity

All the activities foresee a first short period to introduce volunteers to the new context, and a final period dedicated to the evaluation and elaboration of the acquired competencies. Each volunteer is entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate, created by the European Commission to certify the knowledge and skills acquired in a non-formal learning setting

Participant profile

We are looking for volunteers aged 20–30 with previous experience in volunteering activities, workcamps, or community initiatives, locally or abroad, with interest in the youth sector, solidarity actions, and social inclusion. Volunteers should be motivated to contribute to community activities and promote youth participation. Good communication skills, empathy, flexibility, and teamwork are essential. Previous international volunteering experience and a driving licence are welcome.
