🇪🇸 ESC Volunteering in Spain 🌱 Rural Community Life Eco Gardening and Flood Relief 🎄

Description

The DO GOOD, LIVE RURAL project is an "all-in-one" volunteering experience focused on rural community life, sustainability, and solidarity. Based at our volunteer host house in a peaceful rural environment, participants will take on a dynamic, hands-on role: maintaining the volunteer house, supporting NGO events, and working in a local eco-garden (@ecoescoles) doing organic farming, weeding, and harvesting. Volunteers will also engage in sociocultural animation by preparing and performing short Christmas plays and carol singing at local senior residences and cultural centers. Additionally, the project includes direct physical and logistical volunteer support for communities affected by the DANA floods in La Marina Alta (Alicante) and the Valencia region. We are looking for proactive, flexible, and open-minded individuals eager to combine environmental work, creative community activities, and disaster relief support in an international team setting.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The project is designed for a group of 6–7 international volunteers from diverse backgrounds living together in a 3-story volunteer house. Accommodation features 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. Volunteers share bedrooms, cook together, and maintain their shared space in good condition. Food costs are covered by the organization. A project car is provided for daily work transit, and public transport is available Monday to Saturday, though limited.

Participant profile

We are looking for versatile, proactive volunteers prepared for a hands-on, dynamic experience with a strong sense of responsibility and initiative. Knowledge of Spanish, Catalan, or Valencian, as well as holding a valid manual driving license, will be highly valued. Experience or background in agriculture, sociocultural animation, or working with senior citizens is a strong plus, though any practical experience or enthusiasm to learn and adapt across diverse project activities is useful and welcome.
