Description
Kiribil Sarea is looking for one volunteer to join an ongoing project in Bilbao (Basque Country), starting as soon as possible and continuing until July 2027. The volunteer will support children, adolescents, and young people through socio-educational activities based on non-formal education, helping to plan, implement, and evaluate workshops, educational leisure activities, and community initiatives that promote participation, inclusion, creativity, and personal development. In addition, the volunteer will help promote the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ programmes by creating communication materials, sharing their experiences, and participating in information sessions. Throughout the project, they will develop personal, social, and professional competences while becoming an active member of the local community.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will live in a fully furnished shared flat in Bilbao, with a private bedroom and shared kitchen, bathroom, and living room. The accommodation includes Wi-Fi, heating, and is well connected by public transport. The volunteer will receive a monthly public transport pass, โฌ180 per month for food, and โฌ180 per month as pocket money, in line with the European Solidarity Corps programme. Travel costs and insurance will also be covered according to ESC programme rules.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive continuous support throughout the project. Upon arrival, they will be helped to settle into Bilbao and introduced to the organisation, local culture, and practical aspects of daily life. They will participate both in the official ESC on-arrival and mid-term training organised by the Spanish National Agency. They will also have access to the OLS platform and opportunities to improve their Spanish through in-person classes. Regular meetings and mentoring will support their personal development, learning process, and integration into the local community.
Participant profile
We are looking for one enthusiastic, open-minded, and motivated young person who is interested in youth work, non-formal education, socio-community activities, and promoting European opportunities. The volunteer should enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young people, and be willing to collaborate in community projects of different nature. They should be proactive, responsible, organised, flexible, and eager to learn in an intercultural and multilingual environment.
Previous experience in non-formal education will be considered an asset, particularly experience in organising and facilitating activities for children and young people, participating in youth associations, scout groups, educational leisure organisations, youth clubs, or other community-based initiatives. This experience may have been gained through volunteering or other forms of participation.
Basic knowledge of Spanish is required, as the volunteer will interact daily with children, young people, educators, and members of the local community. Fluency is not necessary, but candidates must be able to communicate at a basic level and be willing to improve their language skills throughout the project.
The ability to adapt to multilingual environments is also important, as the volunteer will be exposed to both Spanish and Basque (Euskara) in their daily activities and interactions. Knowledge of Basque is not required, but openness and a positive attitude towards linguistic and cultural diversity are highly valued.
Availability to join the project as soon as possible is essential, as the project has already started and other volunteers are currently participating in activities in Bilbao. We are now looking for one final volunteer to complete the team and join the ongoing project.
