Description

CONNECT & CHANGE is a European Solidarity Corps project hosted by the Botosani County Youth Foundation (FJTBT) at Casa Tineretului, its Youth Center in Botosani, north-eastern Romania. Alongside local volunteers and youth workers, international volunteers carry out activities under four objectives. (1) Youth center: information and counseling for young people, career and study guidance, surveys and focus groups on young people's needs, sustainability and environmental workshops, youth-led projects. (2) Civic engagement: civic education sessions, public debates, campaigns and community events, support for youth councils, initiative groups and solidarity projects. (3) Media literacy: workshops on recognizing fake news and disinformation, fact-checking, youth journalism and media campaigns. (4) Solidarity: promoting volunteering and European Solidarity Corps values in schools, small towns and rural areas, together with local partners.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation is free of charge in the youth hostel of Casa Tineretului, where the Youth Center is also located: rooms shared by two volunteers, with private bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. Volunteers prepare their own meals and receive a food allowance of EUR 150 per month, plus pocket money of EUR 120 per month. Travel costs to and from Botosani are reimbursed as a lump sum, according to European Solidarity Corps rules. Health insurance is provided for the whole activity. Schedule: 35 hours per week, 2 days off per week and 2 additional days off per month.

Training during the activity

Each volunteer is supported by a mentor and receives: pre-departure preparation; on-arrival training within the European Solidarity Corps training cycle; Romanian language lessons and cultural orientation; training sessions and workshops in the project fields (media literacy and fact-checking, civic education, sustainability, career guidance, communication and PR); regular feedback and evaluation meetings. Learning outcomes are documented with Youthpass. We also offer help with CV writing, job interview preparation and career advice.

Participant profile

We are looking for motivated young people aged 18-30 who want to contribute actively to the local community, enjoy teamwork and are open to non-formal education and intercultural learning. Conversational English (minimum A1) is desirable for everyday work in an international team.

Previous volunteering experience in European Solidarity Corps or Erasmus+ projects is an advantage.

Volunteers are matched with roles according to their skills and experience. For this project, candidates must therefore specifically demonstrate, in their CV and motivation letter, that they have experience in at least one of the following areas: (1) media (press); (2) social media; (3) promotion of sustainability and environmental protection; (4) organization of events (forums, surveys, consultations, promotion of democracy and civic participation); (5) career counseling or guidance on choosing academic studies; (6) public relations (PR).

How to apply: a CV and a motivation letter are mandatory. Please state clearly which area(s) your experience covers and give concrete examples. Application deadline: 15 October 2026. A second deadline, 1 November 2026, applies only if volunteers are still needed.

Applications sent by email will not be considered.
