Description

SCI Belgium is an NGO and a youth organization whose mission is to promote peace, intercultural understanding, solidarity, inclusion, social justice and ecology through voluntary projects and educational work. SCI Belgium organises international volunteering exchanges, local voluntary activities in Belgium, awareness activitites on peace, intercultural learning, citizen mobilisation. SCI's activities will be organized in Brussels and in Liรจge (+ Wallonia) : international (workcamps) and local volunteering (one day volunteering, local activists who organize different activities in link with citizen mobilisation); awareness raising activities in schools and associations; trainings. The 2 ESC volunteers will be involved in the daily work of the organization : organization and participation to workcamps and one day volunteering activities, trainings and facilitation in schools by using raising awareness tools, participation to activists groups , communication and promotional activities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The SCI Belgium will host 2 volunteers : one will work in the office in Brussels and the other one in the office in Liรจge. The ESC volunteers will be accomodated in a shared flat for students or community flat (one in Brussels , one in Liรจge). They will have a proper room and a kitchen available to cook their own food. Pocket money and allowance for food and local transportation (wether Brussels or Liรจge) will be provided.

Training during the activity

The ESC volunteers will participate to trainings organized by the SCI Belgium: camp leader trainings, pedagogical tool trainings, facilitation techniques. The volunteers will attend French online courses to improve their level of the language (having a basic knowledge of French is an asset). The volunteers will also have the opportunity to learn about how an NGO works and propose new ideas of activities in link with the aims and values of the SCI.

Participant profile

No specific skills are required but the candidates should have motivation towards volunteering activities and be eager to improve their French language level and learn about the main topics of the organisation: interculturality, social inclusion, global citizenship, North-South issues, development inequalities, peace education, awareness raising activities ... The volunteer interested in taking the position in the Liรจge office should also be interested in doing communication activities (social networks, promotional campaigns and events, photo/video).
