Description

The Schwarzkopf Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Berlin. The Schwarzkopf Foundation’s vision is a Europe of openness, solidarity and democracy and an inclusive, open-minded, pluralistic European civil society shaped by young people. To pursue this vision, the Foundation advises, qualifies and supports young Europeans through events, workshops, awards, training opportunities, travel grants as well as dialogue and educational platforms, e.g., in the youth-led networks European Youth Parliament, Understanding Europe and Young Islam Conference

As an ESC volunteer, you will become part of a young and international team and support the daily work of the Foundation, primarily in the field of administration and office management. Tasks include assisting with internal and external communication, coordinating meetings and appointments, maintaining databases and documentation, supporting office management and contributing to administrative accounting processes. The position offers a broad learning experience within a professional, international and mission-driven working environment.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will receive food fee (345 Euro/month), pocket money (7€ per day) and travel money (Deutschland Ticket). The volunteer will receive a financial support to the travel costs from their place of origin to Germany and back, the amount depends on the distance travelled. They will also receive health insurance. Because of the housing shortage in Berlin, it is very difficult for us to find a room for the volunteer. For this reason, it is very important that you are flexible about the accommodation: The volunteer is going to live in a shared flat.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will take part in the mandatory ESC trainings (On Arrival and Mid Term Training).

Participant profile

The volunteer should have a good command of English and ideally some knowledge of German. They should be conscientious, well-organised and reliable in carrying out administrative and organisational tasks. Strong communication skills, a collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are important. The volunteer should feel comfortable using digital tools and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word; familiarity with Teams and SharePoint is an advantage. Previous experience in office administration, project support or volunteering is welcome but not required. Above all, the volunteer should demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative and a genuine motivation to contribute to the work and mission of the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe.
