🇧🇪 ESC Volunteering in Belgium 🏠 Caretaker Duo at a Youth Accommodation Center 🔧

Description

Koning Kevin is a youth organization based in Belgium. We are looking for 1 motivated volunteer to form a dedicated caretaker duo with a second ESC volunteer at our youth accommodation center 'Heiberg' in Kessel-Lo, near Leuven.

Guided by our site manager, your tasks include welcoming guest groups, performing check-outs, handling minor maintenance, cleaning and space setup, keeping the surroundings tidy, and managing waste. During school holidays, you'll support our youth camp operations and occasionally cook for our volunteers.

You work 30-35h/week (incl. Dutch lessons & coaching). You get 2 consecutive days off per week and build up 2 holiday days/month.

Subject to the approval of additional funding, this opportunity may be extended to a maximum of 12 months.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will live at 'Heiberg' (Kapellekensweg 2, Kessel-Lo). You share a spacious bedroom with your co-volunteer, equipped with a divider wall to ensure your personal privacy. Shared living room, kitchen, and bathroom are available.

Pocket money and food allowance are provided monthly according to official ESC rates.

Travel costs (arrriving/leaving Belgium) are reimbursed up to the ESC distance limit. You receive a bicycle for local commutes to Leuven center, plus a bus pass (De Lijn) for public transport across Flanders.

Training during the activity

Language learning is supported: you get access to OLS (Online Language Support) and can attend group Dutch language courses in Leuven. Class hours count as part of your weekly volunteer hours.

On-the-job practical training and daily task guidance are provided directly by our youth center manager.

Participant profile

Aged 18-30. MUST already hold the right to reside in the EU/Schengen zone (we CANNOT support visa procedures).

We look for a motivated, hands-on team player who enjoys practical work (cleaning, basic maintenance, garden care). Experience is a plus, but a positive, responsible attitude and willingness to learn are most important.

Good knowledge of English is required; eagerness to learn Dutch is appreciated. You like working in a duo, welcoming groups, and being part of a vibrant youth organization!
