🇬🇷 ESC Volunteering in Greece 🌿 Off Grid Community Natural Building and Gardening 🛠️

Description

Join us for a fully funded, long-term volunteering experience in Skiathos, Greece, part of an off-grid community for up to a year.

You will pick up unfinished projects left by past volunteers and trainings, from natural building to land infrastructure, and help bring them to completion. You will rebuild fencing to protect the garden from the neighbour's goats, then get it growing again. And you will share daily life, welcoming visitors and taking part in the rhythm of an off-grid community through every season.

Expect off-grid living with solar energy, a full year cycle through all four seasons, shared meals, learning by doing, and online and on-site trainings alongside your daily work.

We are looking for 3 long-term volunteers, up to 12 months. Apply early, applications are reviewed as they are received.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Long-term volunteers each have their own caravan, offering a bit of personal space within the shared land. Depending on numbers, you may be asked to share your caravan with a short-term volunteer, always discussed together beforehand.

During the cold season, everyone can move together into the earth-built rooms raised by previous volunteers, a warmer, communal way of living through the winter months.

We provide 3 vegetarian meals per day, prepared together by the group. Cooking is part of the shared experience.

Upon arrival in Skiathos, transport from the port or airport to the site is arranged.

Training during the activity

🌱 Learning through experience is at the heart of this project. Volunteers will gain skills in:

🛠️ Completing hands-on natural building and land projects from start to finish

🌿 Social permaculture and sustainable land care

🐐 Practical land protection and garden restoration

📱 Social media marketing and storytelling

💬 Communication, teamwork, and community facilitation

Trainings are offered both online and on site, alongside the daily work of the project.

Participant profile

This experience is for young people who feel called to see something through, who are curious about community life, simple living, and learning by doing over the long term.

🏕️ You are open to living off-grid, mostly outdoors, with simple facilities and shared outdoor spaces, across all seasons.

🫶 You are comfortable sharing daily life with other volunteers, families, children, and visitors.

💪 You are willing to take part in hands-on tasks, from finishing others' projects to land care, fencing, and gardening.

🌿 You are patient, resourceful, and comfortable picking up work that someone else began.

🐾 You are also ready to share the space with a very affectionate, love-addict dog.
