🇨🇿 ESC Volunteering in Czechia 🧒 Afterschool Activities With Children From Ukraine 🤝

Diocesan Charity České Budějovice (further simply DCHCB) provides support, coordination, and methodical assistance to 10 local Charities. The Centre of DCHCB provides its own social services (including the Volunteer Centre) and participates in projects in the Diocese of České Budějovice and abroad. The project supported by the European Solidarity Corps enables us to host foreign volunteers who can participate in several volunteering activities. Support for older people and people with disabilities Work with children and youth in the programme Young Caritas Helping people who have been affected by a natural disaster or war. For autumn 2026, we are looking for one short-term volunteer to support mainly after-school activities for children from foreign countries, especially children from Ukraine. The activities include a leisure club, workshops, trips, and other activities. Our activities are open to all young people (volunteers), including those with fewer opportunities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation for volunteers is guaranteed. We provide accommodation in dormitories for young people or in private apartments. The volunteer will have his/her own room with a shared kitchen and bathroom. The volunteer can cook his/her own meals, or there are many opportunities to eat outside. Concerning transportation, public transport is available. The town of České Budějovice is also ideal for cycling.

Training during the activity

The educational plan will include: 1) introductory training led by our staff, 2) aCzech language course, 3) the course called „Setkání s charitou“, 4) digital literacy issues (using digital tools/methods every day), 5) training connected with the European Solidarity Corps (National Agency), 5) goals from the volunteer‘s perspective (connected to the key competences of the volunteer). The core of the training will be the everyday interaction with our target groups. Volunteers will develop their communication, manual, language and other soft skills.

Participant profile

We are mainly looking for motivated volunteers who are interested in working with children and youth and supporting older people with disabilities. An important requirement for volunteers is strong communication skills and at least basic knowledge of Czech and English. All activities are also suitable for young people with fewer opportunities.
